Kroos talks about possible retirement

Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has opened the possibility of his retirement in 2024.

Kroos has continued his pattern of signing short-term contract extensions in Madrid, agreeing a deal to stay in the Spanish capital for the 2023/24 season.

Los Blancos have remained steadfast in their policy of only offering players aged 30+ one-year contracts with Kroos a beneficiary of the stay.

Midfield partner Luka Modric has also been extended for 12 months despite the arrival of England’s Jude Bellingham.

Kroos is likely to end his time at the club next summer, having previously hinted that his career is coming to an end as he turns 34 in 2024.

Ahead of a difficult season in Madrid, Kroos has reiterated his determination to play a key role and if his production drops, he will know it is time to call time on his stay at Los Blancos.

“There are one or two negative examples who just couldn’t quit football and were no longer the players people have in mind. I don’t want this to happen to me,” according to reports from Marca. I have the feeling that last season went as well as the last nine in Madrid. Why doesn’t the other one go well? I still enjoy football and I am hungry for the title
