Poem by Eralda Baze

SANS RETURN
Beside another he pretends to be in bliss
But from time to time he glances at me
I treat my disregard with champagne sips
Telling myself, “there are others like thee”

Smiles, perfumes sparkling in the hall
And beautiful words, not at all sincere,
Who invited us today in the ball?
Tirana is small and life is so queer!

Suddenly our old song spread in the air
For a single moment our sights twined
Then you with another, and I in pair
Danced sans turning our heads behind…
