In the Park Covered with Leaves by Ismail Kadare

In the park covered with leaves
We are walking silently,
After its taste, Autumn has laid
A yellow carpet certainly.

Perhaps just like in a vague dream
You have a vision of afterglow
Upon this park covered with leaves
Where after centuries, now you go

Of wanderers smoking cigars
My love, you mustn’t scare in vain
Your image, even the dinosaurs
Centuries ago could never wane.

So that you came with such a beauty
With such long hair, and such a pace
The earth did soothe the toughest climate
Turning the glaciers back to their place.

It could not happen the other way
Another way, there could not be.
For all the monsters had had to perish
So to this world you came to be…
