The English midfielder of Borussia Dortmund, Jude Bellingham, has been declared the player of the season in the Bundesliga.
Bellingham was key to his side’s title fight, but a 2-2 draw with Mainz in the final round of the season saw them lose to Bayern Munich.
He scored eight goals and provided five assists in 31 league appearances this season as Dortmund finished as runners-up.
“Every year that I’ve played at this club, my responsibility has increased,” Bellingham said.
“I have to continue to be everywhere on the pitch and try to give my best to contribute in attack and defense and try to control the game and dominate the midfield. My teammates, coaches and staff have helped me develop. I came to the club as a talented boy, but I have added elements to my game that have taken it to another level and I think that belongs to them,” said the 19-year-old.
Bellingham is expected to join Real Madrid this summer in a deal worth over €100 million.
He joined Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for £25m and has made over 130 appearances for the club.
