Jurgen Klopp has been suspended for two matches following allegations against referee Paul Tierney in Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Tottenham last month. Klopp received a suspension for his post-match comments, which took effect immediately.
Meanwhile, the suspension of the second match will be valid until the end of the next season 2023/24 with the condition that Klopp will not break the rules again during this period.
Also, Klopp has been fined £75,000 (86,385 euros).
“Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his comments regarding the referee of the match, during the media interview after the match, constitute misconduct as they imply bias, question the referee’s integrity, are personal, offensive and bring the game into disrepute” , said a statement from the English FA. Klopp verbally attacked Tierney after Liverpool’s victory over Tottenham on April 30, while the English referee then punished the “Reds” coach with a yellow card.
