United could miss out on the Champions League for the second time in a row, how will that affect the Adidas deal?

Man United’s place in the Champions League is entirely up to them. Ten Hag’s side are currently in fourth place, but just one point ahead of Liverpool and a game in hand. If Manchester United do not win the remaining games, the club risks losing a place in the Champions League.

If Man United miss out on another Champions League season, it will affect the deal with Adidas, The Athletic confirms.

The 10-year deal signed between Adidas and Man United in 2015 includes a Champions League opt-out clause.

The club receives £75m a year from Adidas. However, this amount will be reduced by 30 percent if the team does not participate in the Champions League for two consecutive seasons.

Manchester United finished outside the top 4 last season and if that happens again, Adidas’ annual salary will drop to £52.5m.
