Bruno Fernandes thinks David de Gea was not solely to blame for Manchester United’s defeat to West Ham.
David de Gea’s mistake in the 27th minute of the match helped Said Benrahma to score the only goal that secured the crucial three points for West Ham on Sunday.
It was the fourth time in the current Premier League season that a De Gea blunder led to a goal conceded by Manchester United.
“David de Gea should not take the blame,” Bruno Fernandes initially told reporters, lajmi.net reports.
“We are not able to score a goal, we create so many chances but not ruthless enough. We conceded an unlucky goal and lost the game. I have to look at it again, but we don’t need to focus on that [De Gea’s mistake].
He has saved us so many times so he should not be blamed for the result. It’s probably one of our worst goal-scoring seasons. We have people capable of scoring goals, but we are not taking our chances. We must focus on ourselves, everything is in our hands. We know what we need until the end of the season. It is difficult for us, we have to return our energy”.
Last night was the second loss in a row for the ‘Red Devils’, after the previous round was also defeated 1:0 by Brighton.
