Scaloni talks about Messi’s future in the Argentine national team

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has said that Lionel Messi will be welcome to play for Argentina as long as he wants.

Speaking to the press ahead of Argentina’s games against Panama and Curacao during the March international break, Scaloni insisted that only Messi will decide when he will stop playing for his country.

“Messi will keep coming until he says otherwise. I see him happy on the field and inside the selection. Leo looks good to me”, said Scaloni.

Messi inspired Argentina to their first World Cup triumph since 1986 last year, scoring seven goals and providing three assists and playing all 690 minutes of football it took to finally lift the most coveted prize of football.

After that triumph and at the age of 35, many expected Messi to retire from international football, but the dynamic striker has chosen to continue playing for his national team.

The legendary striker has scored 90 goals in 151 appearances for his national team since his debut in 2005, writes Goal.
