Kevin de Bruyne will enter the 2024 European Championship qualifiers as the new captain of the Belgian National Team.
The Manchester City midfielder will replace Eden Hazard, who ended his career in the national team after the World Cup in Qatar. The news was announced by the Belgian National Team.
De Bruyne will wear the captain’s armband for the first time in Friday’s game against Sweden in Stockholm. His deputy will be goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and attacker Romelu Lukaku, reports Klankosova.tv.
“I’ve been playing in the national team for a long time, it’s time to take the captain’s armband and take on the role of leader. It’s a great honor for me,” said De Bruyne.
