From Barcelona’s point of view, Sunday’s game against Real Madrid is their most important challenge in La Liga.
A win for the Catalans would put them 12 points clear of Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the top of the table, which would be a huge margin for Los Blancos to drop.
Speaking ahead of El Clasico, Ancelotti was keen to play down the importance of the match in the title race. In his pre-match press conference, Xavi did the same, expressing his belief that he still has a long way to go.
Whatever happens tomorrow, it will not be final. There is still a long way to go, but the victory would mean a big blow for Real Madrid”, declared Xavi, the coach of Barcelona.
Xavi also wants to see a different performance from the previous “El Clasico” meeting, where Barcelona beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final with a remarkable performance.
