Ed Sheeran becomes the first artist to reach 100 million followers on Spotify

Ed Sheeran, who is nominated five times at the 2022 MTV VMAs, has also achieved an all-time Spotify record.

The creator of the hit “Shivers” becomes the first artist to amass 100 million followers on the streaming platform.

With the singer’s huge achievement it would make sense for him to perhaps receive a plaque or even a unique memento, but it seems Spotify had smaller plans.

“So I just hit 100 million followers on Spotify and they sent me this t-shirt. So I’m going to walk around the stadium and ask people to ask me about my 100 million followers,” Sheeran says with a smile in the video he posted to mark the achievement wearing a shirt from Spotify as a gift to His 100 million followers.

With this record, Ed Sheeran surpasses other singers in the number of Spotify followers. Behind him are Ariana Grande, who has 81.7 million followers, Billie Eilish with 66.3 million, Drake with 65.5 and Justin Bieber with 63.3 million.
