Robert Lewandowski believes Lionel Messi will once again lead the way for the Ballon d’Or award.
Lewandowski is sure that the winner of the World Cup, Messi, will win the Golden Ball for the eighth time, reports Klankosova.tv.
“Of course. There may be another player playing for the same club, but there is only one World Cup that decides who will win it this season,” said the FC Barcelona striker in an interview with Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
“Leo is certainly on top now because he’s achieved everything that means everything to him.”
The 34-year-old Lewandowski, who was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021 ahead of Messi, leaves open another participation for Poland if they qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
“It has nothing to do with my physical condition, it has to do with the aspects surrounding football. “I know I’ll be ready if I want to be there, but it’s still too early,” said the multiple Bundesliga scorer.
“Now I am concentrating on the next European Championship.”
The European Championship will take place in Germany in 2024. In Qatar, Poland was eliminated by France in the 1-16 stage of the final.
