Kroos and Real Madrid with different perspectives

Toni Kroos will make a final decision on a contract renewal bid with Real Madrid in February.

The former Germany international decided to retire from the national team to extend his career at the club in 2021 and he remains a key player for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid have previously opted for an unchanged approach to their over-30 squad with Kroos’ midfield partner Luka Modric signing back-to-back 12-month extensions.

Casemiro’s move to Manchester United destroyed Madrid’s iconic midfield trio, but Kroos is still vital to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

The 32-year-old has repeatedly stated his preference to stay at Madrid, but he is realistic about the physical demands required, and the club are willing to offer a year to extend his stay beyond June 2023.

According to reports from Marca, Kroos is still considering the proposal, but Ancelotti is confident he will convince him to stay, with details yet to be confirmed.
