David Beckham could expand his football portfolio with another club, as reports suggest that he is involved in a bid to purchase Nantes.
According to the French outlet Ouest-France, the name of the owners of Inter Miami is being mentioned in high-level talks over the potential takeover of the French club, which is going through a difficult period on the sporting front. Beckham is an owner of Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS) and co-owner of Salford City, alongside his former teammates from the famous “Class of ’92” generation.
Nantes, who have won eight French league titles, currently compete in Ligue 2 following their relegation from the top flight and sit at the bottom of the table after suffering three defeats in their opening three matches.
The club is reportedly considering at least three takeover offers. Two of them are linked to British investment funds, while a group associated with Beckham is also being repeatedly mentioned in the discussions.
Current owner Waldemar Kita is believed to be willing to sell Nantes. He bought the club in 2007, but his tenure has been marked by significant dissatisfaction among supporters, two relegations from Ligue 1, and 24 managerial changes over the course of 19 years.
