Real Madrid Officially Announce Shirt Numbers for the New Season: 9 Changes

Real Madrid have officially announced the shirt numbers their players will wear during the 2026/27 season, with a total of nine changes compared with last season.

Among the changes are two young talents, Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande, who have been assigned first-team squad numbers, even though, due to their age of under 23, they could also have been registered with the reserve team.

According to the club’s official announcement, Spanish forward Carlos Espi will wear the No. 19 shirt, previously worn by Dani Ceballos.

Meanwhile, Ivorian forward Yan Diomande will wear the No. 25 shirt.

The decision highlights the confidence that Real Madrid’s coaching staff have in the two young players.

The players signed during the summer transfer window have also been given their official squad numbers.

Ibrahima Konaté will wear No. 16, previously held by Gonzalo.

Marc Cucurella has been given the No. 17 shirt, which was left vacant by Marco Asensio.

Bernardo Silva will wear No. 20, previously assigned to Fran García.

Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries will wear No. 24, which was worn by Dean Huijsen last season.

In addition to the new arrivals, three players have changed their shirt numbers.

Asensio has taken the No. 2 shirt, previously belonging to Dani Carvajal, while Huijsen has switched to No. 4, previously worn by David Alaba.

Midfielder Thiago Pitarch will continue wearing No. 27, which he used while playing for the reserve team.

Meanwhile, Endrick returns to the No. 9 shirt. The Brazilian striker wore the number before joining Olympique Lyon on loan during the second half of last season.

With the new shirt numbers now officially confirmed, all first-team squad numbers are occupied.

If Real Madrid decide to sign another player before the summer transfer window closes, the club will have to move one of its current players out in order to free up a squad number.

Furthermore, registering Carlos Espi or Yan Diomande with Castilla is no longer an option, as both players have now been assigned first-team numbers.

Real Madrid will begin their new La Liga campaign on August 22, when they face Espanyol.
