Real Madrid has identified Joško Gvardiol as its primary defensive target for the summer transfer window, with club officials believing that the Manchester City defender is the most attainable option among the names on their shortlist.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, the Madrid giants have also explored the possibility of signing Riccardo Calafiori and Levi Colwill. However, negotiations for both players appear to be extremely difficult. The main reason is that Arsenal and Chelsea have no intention of selling their young defenders. As a result, Real Madrid has intensified its interest in Gvardiol, who has long been regarded as one of the best and most promising defenders in European football. The Croatian international has been a key figure in Manchester City’s squad, and his performances have attracted the attention of several top clubs.
Nevertheless, securing his transfer is not expected to be easy. Manchester City is reportedly working on offering Gvardiol a new long-term contract in an effort to fend off interest from rival clubs and keep him as a central part of their project.
