The staggering earnings of the stars of The Devil Wears Prada 2 – actors reportedly paid €11.5 million each

The leading stars of the highly anticipated sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 have reached a financial agreement that is making headlines across the media. According to reports from Variety, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt negotiated equal pay for their return to the iconic roles.

The three actresses, who reprise their characters as Miranda Priestly, Andrea Sachs, and Emily Charlton, have reportedly secured an equal base salary of $12.5 million (€11.5 million) each. The agreement was made through a “favored nations” contract, meaning that each party receives the same compensation and none is paid less than the others.

In addition to the base salary, the actresses are also expected to benefit from box office-related bonuses. With these incentives, reports suggest that each of them could surpass the $20 million (€18.4 million) mark in total earnings.

Director David Frankel has admitted that a very large portion of the new film’s budget was spent on the cast itself, highlighting the scale of the project and the importance the studio placed on bringing back the main stars.

For comparison, the original 2006 film had a budget of $35 million (€32.2 million) and went on to generate $326 million (€299.9 million) at the global box office.

Meanwhile, the sequel’s budget is reported to have risen to around $100 million (€92 million), while the movie’s earnings have already been extremely strong from the very beginning. Reports claim that the film brought in $230 million (€211.6 million) during its opening weekend alone, with expectations that it will soon reach the $300 million (€276 million) mark worldwide.

Representatives of 20th Century Studios and Creative Artists Agency have not commented on these details, but the reports have already sparked discussions online about celebrity salaries and the power of major franchises in the film industry.
