Paris Saint-Germain coach, Luis Enrique, highly praised the first semifinal match and the 5–4 victory over Bayern Munich.
PSG and Bayern Munich delivered a performance that was, most likely, an early final of this season’s Champions League. The first leg went in favor of the Parisian team, but Vincent Kompany’s players refused to “die” in Paris.
“We showed what kind of team we are. I have never seen a match with this level of intensity and desire to win. The fans of both teams should be happy with this spectacle,” Enrique initially said, clearly excited after the match.
“Physically, their tempo never dropped, and for that, the players deserve congratulations,” he added.
However, he complained that his team wasted a three-goal lead built between the end of the first half and the early stages of the second half.
“They took many risks and showed they can perform at a very high level.”
What the Asturian coach is certain about is that “it was the best match I have ever been involved in as a coach, without a doubt.”
“I have never seen such intensity and physical level. We should congratulate everyone. We deserved to win, to draw, and to lose. It was a fantastic match,” Enrique concluded, who has now reached fifty wins in the Champions League.
The record for the fastest to reach this milestone was held by Guardiola with 80 matches, and Luis Enrique has reduced it to 77 matches.
