Lamine Yamal continues to write history at a very young age.
The FC Barcelona talent has recently won two prestigious awards, becoming the youngest athlete ever (only 18 years old) to achieve such success at this ceremony, which honors the best in world sport.
During this important event, the Spanish forward took the opportunity to speak about his ultimate idol, Lionel Messi, offering words full of admiration:
“When you realize that an athlete is not just a legend in his sport, but in all sports, then it means he is the best. Messi is an example. He is the greatest footballer in history and also the greatest athlete. For me, he is not an ordinary idol,” said Yamal.
These words once again confirm the strong emotional connection and inspiration that Barcelona’s historic number 10 continues to have on younger generations.
Yamal further added that respect for Messi is global:
“The whole world respects him for everything he has done and for the example he has set. I hope to follow in his footsteps,” declared the 18-year-old talent.
Finally, he also spoke about his big dream with the Spain national team, looking ahead to the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
“I’m very excited. I have always dreamed of playing in a World Cup and I want to see my mother in the stands. There are only two months left and they will pass quickly. We hope to become champions,” Yamal concluded.
