Barcelona Offers New Contract to Lewandowski

FC Barcelona has offered striker Robert Lewandowski the opportunity to remain at the club for next season, should he wish to do so. The 37-year-old forward is in the final year of his current contract, and there is still uncertainty surrounding his future.

This season, the Polish striker has largely lost his place in the starting lineup to Ferran Torres. However, in recent weeks, head coach Hansi Flick has given him more playing time in an effort to help him regain form. Despite this, Barcelona is aiming to sign a new striker in the summer as part of its long-term plans.

According to reports from Sport, the Catalan club has already presented Lewandowski with a new contract offer, which includes a salary reduction of around 50%, but also various bonuses that could significantly increase his overall earnings. Club president Joan Laporta has publicly expressed his support for keeping the experienced forward.

Meanwhile, Barcelona could allow Ferran Torres to leave during the summer if Lewandowski stays, as the club does not believe that three “number 9” type strikers can coexist in the same squad. For his part, Lewandowski is seeking guarantees of an important role in the team if he is to sign a new deal, especially if a high-profile striker joins the club.

The same outlet also cites Polish journalist Janusz Michalik, who claims that Chicago Fire FC coach Gregg Berhalter believes Lewandowski will remain in Catalonia next season. Staying at Barcelona has always been his priority, despite other offers, including one from Chicago Fire.

In addition to the possibility of moving to the United States, Lewandowski has also attracted interest from Juventus and AC Milan, while clubs from Saudi Arabia are also keen to bring him to their league. However, the final decision now appears to be in the hands of the Polish striker himself.
