Manchester United have five coaches on the list to replace Carrick

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to replace interim manager Michael Carrick with a permanent appointment in the summer.

Carrick has changed the team’s fortunes since taking charge from Ruben Amorim, but the club is looking beyond his role as a caretaker or temporary manager.

According to the The Sun, United have identified five potential candidates: Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace F.C., Unai Emery of Aston Villa F.C., Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth, former Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Olympique de Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi, and the current Germany national football team manager Julian Nagelsmann.

United’s strong run under Carrick has lifted them into the top four, but the club’s hierarchy is focused on securing a long-term solution to build on the recent progress.

Meanwhile, there are nine rounds left to play in the Premier League. United are in third place with 51 points, the same as fourth-placed Aston Villa, and three points ahead of Chelsea F.C. and Liverpool F.C., who occupy fifth and sixth place.
