Alessandro Del Piero, the legendary Juventus FC forward, jokingly teased Luka Modrić after AC Milan’s 1–0 victory over Inter Milan on Sunday: “With Italian restaurants and food, you could play until the age of 50.”
Modrić was one of the best players on the pitch in Milan’s 1–0 win over their city rivals.
Italian and Juventus legend Del Piero commented on the match as an analyst for CBS Sports and jokingly told the Croatian:
“It was wonderful to see you play again. Congratulations once more. With Italian restaurants and food, you could play until you’re 50. The quality of our food is fantastic—I don’t know if you agree,” he said.
The victory leaves the Rossoneri in second place in the standings, still seven points behind their city rivals.
Modrić emphasized that if the team had performed better in the “smaller matches,” they would be much closer to them in the table.
In fact, Milan has lost only twice in Serie A this season, while Inter has suffered five defeats.
However, the Nerazzurri have only one draw, compared to Milan’s nine.
Inter has won 22 of their 28 matches this season, while their city rivals have collected 17 victories. ⚽
