According to Real Madrid’s most successful coach in terms of trophies won, Xabi Alonso failed in Madrid because he did not have enough time to implement his methods.
Carlo Ancelotti, who is now in charge of the Brazilian national team, commented on Alonso’s situation. Alonso was dismissed just a few months after taking over the Madrid club.
“He encountered difficulties.”
“The ability to adapt is a very important component of a coach’s job, and trying to recreate an atmosphere takes time—time that is not always available.” Ancelotti was succeeded at Real Madrid by Alonso, who was dismissed after just eight months in charge of the team.

The current coach of the Madrid side, Álvaro Arbeloa, is reportedly following the exact plan left behind by Ancelotti—a method that has worked quite well so far.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are expected to appoint a new coach in the summer, as they do not believe in Arbeloa as a long-term project. However, this situation could change if he wins the Champions League and La Liga.
