Mohamed Salah between Liverpool and Saudi Arabia

A transfer that once seemed unrealistic could now become a reality. For several seasons, Saudi Arabian clubs have shown interest in Mohamed Salah, but until last season, the Egyptian forward was considered “untouchable” by Liverpool, and he chose to continue his journey in England, even signing a contract extension after an excellent 2024–2025 season.

However, things now appear to have changed. Liverpool’s poor recent season and Salah’s performances slightly below his usual standards have created tensions, which peaked in December when Salah publicly criticized the manager after being left on the bench. From that moment on, serious talk began about a possible departure at the end of the current season.

Despite reports that the relationship temporarily improved after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations and Salah regained his place in the starting lineup, the December incidents have not been completely forgotten.

According to unofficial sources, his agent is negotiating with the Saudi club Al Ittihad, and compared to last year, the player now seems more open to the possibility of a move to the Saudi Pro League.

This move would benefit all parties involved: Liverpool could receive a significant transfer fee, while Salah would have the opportunity for a new challenge outside the Premier League.

From Al Ittihad’s perspective, the club has lost several high-profile players in the transfer market, such as Karim Benzema (to Al Hilal) and N’Golo Kanté (to Fenerbahçe), while Fabinho is nearing the end of his contract and Moussa Diaby has also been linked with Inter. This means the club is in need of a major signing to remain competitive — and with Salah, the team would be significantly stronger.
