Despite shining against Real Betis with a hat-trick, Gonzalo García has remained grounded, acknowledging his role as a substitute behind Kylian Mbappé.
The Spanish talent said that the Frenchman deserves his place in the starting lineup because he scores in every game, while García himself simply needs to keep working hard to earn more minutes.
García was Real Madrid’s man of the match in the 5–1 victory over Betis, where he completed his first hat-trick in La Liga.
“Do I get only a few minutes? That’s true, but it’s because Kylian Mbappé plays ahead of me and he’s having an excellent season.”
“He scores almost in every match. He’s the best player in the world, so I understand why I’m his substitute. I’ll keep doing my best, and everyone is supporting me,” he stated.
For García, this was only his second start in La Liga for Los Blancos, and these three goals were his first of the season, while Mbappé has already scored 29.
Meanwhile, it is still unknown whether Mbappé will return for the Spanish Super Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia. There, Real Madrid will face Atlético in the semifinals.
