Rasmus Højlund is on the front pages of Italian newspapers after his latest performance, rewarding Napoli for the perfect timing of their transfer strategy, which had already drawn attention even before the need arose to replace Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian had been sidelined for several months during pre-season, and after spending over €30 million to secure Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese, the club suddenly found itself in need of another major investment for a striker.
Napoli did not hesitate and acted immediately, fully aware that AC Milan had already contacted Manchester United about the Danish forward.
When Højlund learned of Napoli’s interest, he didn’t hesitate and placed them at the top of his list, even requesting that the transfer be mandatory rather than an option, to ensure he would not return to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Napoli is now reaping the benefits of this €50 million investment, not only for the two goals scored against Juventus last night, but above all for Højlund’s tremendous effort and tireless work in service of the team.
