Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé enjoyed a memorable night on the European stage on Wednesday.
This came thanks to a historic goalscoring performance, leading Real Madrid to a much-needed return to victories.
Xabi Alonso’s team traveled to Athens last night to face Olympiacos in the Champions League.
At the end of the match, Real Madrid came out victorious with a 4–3 result.
And it was Mbappé who scored all four of Madrid’s goals on the night.
Besides ending his team’s three-match winless run, the Frenchman also made history in European competitions at the “Georgios Karaiskakis” stadium.
First, with his hat-trick, Mbappé surpassed Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema in the number of hat-tricks scored in the Champions League.
Then, with the fourth goal, the 26-year-old also surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s best start to a Champions League season.
The Portuguese star had scored eight goals in his first five continental appearances in the 2013/14 and 2017/18 seasons — a figure that this season was surpassed by Mbappé’s nine goals in five matches.
