Real Madrid has continued preparations for the match they will play on Wednesday away against Olympiacos in the Champions League.
As Xabi Alonso tries to overcome his first difficult period at Real Madrid, he will be without two key players for the trip to the Mediterranean.
‘Los Blancos’ are three games without a win and, after a dull draw with Elche this weekend, their lead at the top of La Liga has been reduced to just one point.
As if that were not enough, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is expected to miss Wednesday evening’s match. Real Madrid’s number one was one of the few who delivered a high-level performance against Elche, but will not travel due to a stomach problem, according to Diario AS.
He has been ruled out of the match, which means Andriy Lunin is ready for his season debut and his first game under Xabi Alonso.
In addition to him, another confirmed absence is Dean Huijsen. The 20-year-old defender entered the match against Elche with doubts, after leaving Spain’s training camp last week due to muscle concerns. He did not train on Tuesday because of knee pain, and medical tests have revealed a muscular issue.
Franco Mastantuono completed only part of the training session with the group, but his injury is also expected to keep him off the field for the match in Greece.
