Karim Benzema may be ready for a sensational return to European football, but he has one key condition before accepting such a move.
The French striker is widely regarded as one of the best centre-forwards of the 21st century.
After five years with Lyon’s first team, he joined Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he won 25 trophies, including five Champions League titles.
His best season came in 2021/2022, when he scored 44 goals in 46 matches, leading Real Madrid to victory in both the Champions League and La Liga.
He spent one more year in Spain before moving to Saudi champions Al-Ittihad in 2023, where he signed a three-year contract.
With that deal set to expire in June 2026, speculation has begun to grow about Benzema’s next move.
In a recent interview with Spanish outlet AS, he revealed that a return to European football remains a possibility.
“It’s true that I have offers from Europe. I need to review everything, choose wisely, and decide where I feel comfortable—without forgetting that I feel good here and receive support from everyone. But we will see.”
Although a return to Real Madrid may seem like a dream scenario, Benzema explained that such a move would only happen if the club president, Florentino Pérez, wanted it.
“If Florentino is still there, it can happen, it can happen. I speak with him, and it’s possible. I am a Real Madrid fan. I feel it in my soul.”
“Madrid is still my city; I feel like a Real Madrid fan and like a madrileño. We will see what happens,” the Frenchman said.
