Neymar returned to his boyhood club Santos in January 2025 after mutually terminating his contract with Saudi club Al-Hilal, signing an initial six-month deal.
In June, Santos decided to extend his contract until the end of 2025, with an option to renew it through 2026 — a period that would include the 2026 World Cup. The agreement also includes image rights, guaranteeing the Brazilian at least $15 million from sponsorships and marketing activities linked to his name.
However, since returning to Brazil, Neymar’s frequent injuries have limited his time on the pitch. With his contract set to expire at the end of next year, he now faces an important decision about his future.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, one of the options under consideration is a move to Inter Miami, where Neymar could reunite with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez — reviving the legendary “MSN” trio that once dazzled the world at Barcelona.
The contract extension option with Santos through 2026 provides flexibility for both the club and the player. Neymar’s ambition to remain fit and competitive ahead of the 2026 World Cup is expected to play a key role in his next move.
