Paris Saint-Germain is the first team in the history of the Champions League to score 40 or more goals in the competition within a single year.
The Parisians achieved this milestone in their match against Bayer Leverkusen, where they scored seven goals in a dominant 2–7 victory.
With that match, PSG reached the mark of 40 goals and added five more, meaning they have scored a total of 45 goals in the Champions League this year. It is only fitting that the reigning champions hold such an honor in Europe’s most prestigious competition.
Luis Enrique has stated that PSG’s main goal is to retain the trophy for the second consecutive season.
Meanwhile, PSG won the title last season by defeating Inter in the final and has recorded three wins from as many matches in this campaign.
