Zinedine Zidane will return to coaching, but he ‘rules out’ Juventus

Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that he “definitely” wants to return to coaching after a four-year break, but admitted that a comeback to Juventus is unlikely at the moment, as his main preference remains taking charge of the French national team.

The former Real Madrid coach was one of the guests at the Festival dello Sport in Trento over the weekend.

On Sunday, he spoke about his time as a footballer in Italy, his experiences coaching stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, and Karim Benzema, as well as his future plans.

Zidane has not been involved in professional football since 2021, when he left Real Madrid after his second spell, although his record includes three Champions League titles as a manager.

When asked if he plans to return to the bench soon, Zidane replied briefly: “I will come back, definitely.”

As for the possibility of managing Juventus, he added:

“I don’t know. It hasn’t happened before; I’ve made other choices. Juve will always remain in my heart — it gave me so much right from the start when I went there. As for the future, I don’t know. My feeling is that I’d like to coach the national team one day — not necessarily now, but someday, yes.”

This is a clear signal that Zidane is aiming for the France job, currently held by Didier Deschamps, while a return to club football — including Juventus — seems less likely for now.
