Forward Dani Olmo will be sidelined for three to four weeks due to a new injury sustained during training with the Spanish national team this week, reports Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Initial medical tests have confirmed a muscle problem that will keep the Spanish midfielder off the pitch for several weeks, forcing him to miss key matches — including El Clasico, which will take place later this month.
Olmo has struggled to find his form at Barcelona, with only one goal and one assist in nine appearances so far.
However, his absence is expected to be felt, as he is one of the few creative midfielders capable of playing the “number 10” role in Hansi Flick’s team.
Barcelona are also coping without midfielder Gavi, who remains sidelined for several months due to injury.
Meanwhile, the Catalans still hope that Lamine Yamal will recover in time for El Clasico, scheduled for October 26.
