Kylian Mbappé has broken his silence regarding his relationship with his Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Junior, claiming that the media are responsible for the rumors suggesting the two do not get along.
The Frenchman believes that the media “sell a lot of newspapers” by spreading false narratives about their relationship, adding that he has absolutely no problem with Vinicius.
Mbappé finally completed his long-awaited transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, with “Los Blancos” becoming one of the most feared teams in Europe thanks to the potential partnership between him and Vinicius Jr.
However, Mbappé’s difficult first months in La Liga coincided with a significant dip in Vinicius’s form. Reports from Spain suggested that their relationship was not “ideal.”
“Two famous players on the same team sell a lot of newspapers, a lot of stories. I have a very good relationship with Vinicius. This year it’s even better — we’ve gotten to know each other more. He’s an excellent player and, as a person, a very good guy,” Mbappé said.
“We know that people talk about us for everything, but we have the same goal: to help Real Madrid win titles. I think that if we want to win titles, we have to give our best and help the team as a whole.”
The duo has started the 2025/2026 season in fantastic form, causing serious problems for opposing defenses.
Mbappé has scored 14 goals in his first 10 appearances, failing to score in only one match. Meanwhile, Vinicius has contributed five goals and four assists in La Liga.
Together, they have produced 25 direct goal contributions, combining to score in three of the team’s eight league matches — a noticeable improvement from last season, when both were on the scoresheet in only four of 26 La Liga games.
