Barcelona has been hit with worrying news just days before El Clásico.
The Catalan club announced that their young star, Lamine Yamal, is suffering from an injury, putting his participation in the highly anticipated clash against Real Madrid in doubt.
Head coach Hansi Flick confirmed that the situation is not easy and that there is a real possibility the Spanish winger could miss out.
“I don’t know if Lamine Yamal will be ready for El Clásico. It’s a complicated injury — you can’t really say whether he’ll be out for 2, 3, or 4 weeks. We’ll take it step by step,” said Flick.
He added that the player is feeling slightly better than the day before, but still not fully fit:
“If a player isn’t ready, he doesn’t play. Simple as that.”
If Yamal’s absence is confirmed, Barcelona will lose one of their most dangerous weapons ahead of the heated showdown with their historic rivals, Real Madrid.
The fiery encounter between Barcelona and Real Madrid is scheduled for October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu, kicking off at 21:00.
