Real Madrid have returned to winning ways in La Liga.
Los Blancos triumphed 3–1 at home against Villarreal in the eighth round of the Spanish top flight.
The first half was goalless but saw plenty of action, with four yellow cards shown — two for each team.
Just after the restart, Real Madrid took the lead through Vinícius Júnior, who scored in the 47th minute.
The Brazilian doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 69th minute, converting calmly from the penalty spot.
Only four minutes later, Mikautadze managed to reduce the deficit with a beautiful goal.
However, in the 77th minute, Mourino received his second yellow card, leaving Villarreal with ten men and little hope of a comeback.
In the 81st minute, Kylian Mbappé found the net to seal the final scoreline.
With this victory, Real Madrid temporarily move to the top of the table with 21 points — two more than Barcelona, who play tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Villarreal remain in third place with a total of 16 points.
