Mbappe surpasses Henry and becomes France’s second all-time top scorer, now targeting Giroud’s record

Kylian Mbappe scored his 52nd goal for France, overtaking Thierry Henry on the national team’s all-time scoring list.

France secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Iceland in the 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening.

The goals for Les Bleus were scored by Mbappe in the 45th minute and Bradley Barcola in the 62nd, while Andri Gudjohnsen (21’) netted for the visitors.

However, the Real Madrid striker’s goal drew the most attention and carried the greatest significance, as it was his 52nd for France. With this goal, Mbappe surpassed legend Thierry Henry in scoring, becoming the second all-time top scorer in the history of the national team.

Real Madrid’s goal machine is now chasing Olivier Giroud’s record, as the veteran striker has five more goals for France than Mbappe.

  1. Olivier Giroud – 57 goals
  2. Kylian Mbappe – 52 goals
  3. Thierry Henry – 51 goals
  4. Antoine Griezmann – 44 goals
