Barcelona may have a new injury concern as Lamine Yamal felt discomfort during Spain’s World Cup qualifying match against Bulgaria on Thursday.
The 18-year-old star started the game and provided the assist for Mikel Merino’s goal just before halftime but was substituted in the 78th minute by coach Luis de la Fuente.
Cameras showed Yamal receiving a massage on his lower back, and he was heard saying the word espalda (“back”) while speaking with a teammate. According to Javi Herraez, Yamal had already been experiencing some discomfort since the league match against Rayo Vallecano.
The report adds that the issue does not appear to be serious: the Barcelona star will rest on Friday but is expected to be available for Spain’s next qualifying match against Turkey.
