Real Madrid is reportedly considering offering Rodrygo in a direct swap deal for Arsenal’s William Saliba.
According to DefensaCentral, Los Blancos are open to letting Rodrygo leave this summer, with their primary defensive target being the Arsenal star, Saliba.
Although Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté is seen as a more attainable alternative—given his contract expires next summer—a potential swap between Rodrygo and Saliba has not been ruled out by Real Madrid.
However, while the Spanish giants may be open to parting ways with the Brazilian forward, Arsenal has no intention of allowing Saliba to leave in the near future.
In fact, the French defender himself recently stated that he is hopeful about signing a new contract with the London club soon.
Still, few players can resist the temptation of joining Real Madrid if the Spanish giants come knocking.
The report also adds that 24-year-old Rodrygo is considered expendable by Madrid—something reflected in his limited role during this summer’s Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, Saliba is viewed by the club’s management as a standout defender of his generation, who could significantly strengthen Real Madrid’s central defense in the coming years.
