Spark of Ember

By Abdel latif Moubarak, Egyptian Poet

After your farewell…
My heart is a
memorial statue
visited by women,
no rose missing.

He seizes the chance
from her other glance…

O Lord God
do not turn away your Christ’s face

And I

The Holy Bible
Will the arrow of God, coming
from the bow of the eyes, be broken?

Who pours out from my eyes…
her tears?

A blaze… a blaze… a blaze
Your love in my pores
penetrates
Within my being…
she resides,
and my soul is a cradle.

God writes it…
so recite it…
for a lifetime…
Your love.

She is my other half,
with her farewell,
I completely vanished.

My collars hang on the rope of her femininity.

I am slightly astonished;
I feel the neck of my body.
Struggle to know
that she is…
here,
in the heart you…
besiege.

Your tanks will not reside in my heart,
nor your armored vehicles,
only my pulse…
a bullet,
and my love for her…
a bomb.

Your presence…
is like a ray the sun braids
for me to ascend.

Your presence…
is like a breeze that wandered away
from the gates of paradise.

The night comes,
the body sheds from the body, wearying it,
and returns to me
with all the burdens of the night.
