Real Madrid is currently unable to make any transfers due to squad limitations, but that situation could change if they offload at least one player from the first team. And in an effort to “kill two birds with one stone,” the club is reportedly ready to include current stars in a sensational deal for their dream midfielder, Rodri Hernández.
Midfield issues were evident throughout last season and became even more apparent during the 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semifinal — a match against Xabi Alonso’s team. As a result, there is a strong desire within the club to find a true replacement for Toni Kroos, whose absence has been deeply felt since his retirement in 2024.
Among all the players being considered, Rodri is the main target. The 29-year-old was closely monitored by Real Madrid during this summer’s Club World Cup — a tournament that marked his return from a serious ACL injury suffered in September of last year.
According to CaughtOffside, Real Madrid is ready to move for Rodri this summer, with a proposal that includes two players plus cash. The Spanish giants are reportedly willing to offer Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo Goes, along with €40 million, in an attempt to convince Manchester City to agree to the transfer.
Los Blancos believe a deal is possible, especially since Rodri has less than two years remaining on his current contract with City. However, the Premier League champions have made it clear that they are not willing to consider any offers this summer.
If a deal fails to materialize in summer 2025, Real Madrid is expected to make another attempt next summer. Should Rodri choose not to renew his contract with Manchester City within the next 12 months, he could become available for around €60–80 million in 2026, when he will have less than one year left on his deal.
