Poem by A.S. Pushkin

I have loved you – love had its chance
My soul still holds its trace, unshorn.
But let it not seek you in its dance,
I wish you no shadow, no scorn.

I have loved you – quiet, without a plea,
At times with fear, at times with flame.
I loved you purely, innocently –
May God send one who’ll love you the same.
