Did you know? No matter how deadly snakes are, not even the king cobra, as terrifying as it may be, can kill a horse. After being bitten, the horse might feel unwell for about three days, but then it fully recovers—as if nothing ever happened. This is one of nature’s most incredible wonders.
Within this gentle and powerful creature lies a secret that can save human lives: antivenom.
How is this antivenom made?
First, the snake’s venom is collected. Then, in very small doses, it is injected into the horse. The horse’s immune system reacts and starts producing antibodies that neutralize the venom. After two or three days, these antibodies are present in the horse’s blood.
Next, the red blood cells are separated from the horse’s blood, and the remaining plasma—rich in antibodies—is further processed to produce the antivenom.
This antivenom is injected into people who have been bitten by venomous snakes, to save their lives. In India alone, there are specialized centers for producing antivenom, where hundreds of horses are kept for exactly this purpose.
God created the horse with a great purpose—not only to be a friend to humans, but also their savior.
Thanks to this gentle and noble creature, humanity has found a way to protect itself from some of the deadliest venoms on the planet. Without horses, many lives would be lost to a single bite.
🤍 When God chooses to help us, that help often comes from places we never expected.
