When I Started Loving Myself
When I started loving myself
I realized that at all times and in every situation
I am in the right place at the right time.
I understood that everything that happens is right —
Since then, I have been at peace.
Today I call it: TRUST.
When I started loving myself
I realized how much I could offend someone
when I tried to force my desires upon them,
even though I knew the time wasn’t right
and that person wasn’t ready for it.
Today I call it: FREEDOM.
When I started loving myself
I could see that emotional pain and suffering
are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today I call it: AUTHENTICITY.
When I started loving myself
I stopped longing for a different life
and I saw that everything around me was an invitation to grow.
Today I call it: MATURITY.
When I started loving myself
I stopped robbing myself of free time
and stopped planning grand projects for the future.
Today I only do what brings me joy and delight,
what I love and what makes my heart happy,
in my own way and at my own pace.
Today I call it: SIMPLICITY.
When I started loving myself
I let go of everything that wasn’t healthy for me—
food, people, things, situations,
and anything that dragged me down and away from myself.
At first, I called this “healthy selfishness,”
but today I know it is: SELF-LOVE
When I started loving myself
I stopped wanting to always be right—
and with that, I made fewer mistakes.
Today I call it: HUMILITY.
When I started loving myself
I refused to keep living in the past
or worrying about the future.
Now I live only in the moment where EVERYTHING happens.
Today I call it: AWARENESS.
When I started loving myself
I recognized that my thinking
can make me miserable and sick.
But when I called upon my heart’s wisdom,
my mind became a valuable partner.
Today I call this connection: THE WISDOM OF THE HEART.
We no longer need to fear arguments,
conflicts, or problems with ourselves or others,
because even stars sometimes collide—
and out of their crashing, new worlds are born.
Today I know: THIS IS LIFE!
