Poem by Walt Whitman

I believe that
a blade of grass doesn’t tire any less
than the daily labor of the stars,

and the earth’s fly is a wonder
just like a grain of sand,

just like the sparrow’s fragile egg,

and the tiny frog
is just as noble as the summer-evening lakes,
And the strawberry
could be a crown for the universe.

And the smallest wrinkle on my hand
is more perfect
than any machine born of human thought,

and the cow, grazing humbly
in garden shadows,
is more beautiful than a church painting.

And a mouse, no bigger than a speck,
is such a great miracle
it could change the hearts
of those who do not believe.
