Marcus Rashford’s desire to join Barcelona has been a persistent topic in recent transfer discussions.
According to journalist Toni Juanmarti, Rashford has shown a clear preference for Barcelona, rejecting offers from other clubs. In January 2025, Rashford’s representatives met with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, to explore a possible loan move. However, the deal did not materialize due to financial constraints and internal opposition within Barcelona.
As a result, Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan, where he contributed four goals and five assists in 17 appearances before a thigh injury sidelined him. Despite their interest, Barcelona can only consider a loan deal due to financial limitations.
Rashford’s commitment to joining Barcelona is evident, but financial hurdles and the club’s internal dynamics have so far blocked the transfer. The upcoming transfer window will be decisive in determining whether his long-standing ambition will be realized. Despite his performance, Aston Villa did not pursue a permanent deal, partly because they failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Rashford remains determined to join Barcelona. Manchester United is open to selling him for around £40 million to ease the burden of his £350,000-a-week wages.
