Xavi Hernandez, the legendary Barcelona maestro and two-time FIFA Club World Cup champion, described triumphing in the prestigious tournament as “like touching the sky.”
He also praised the new format of the FIFA Club World Cup, calling it a fundamental change for the sport on a global scale.
“Being the champion of the Club World Cup gives you the feeling as if you’re touching the sky,” said Xavi, recalling his victories in 2009 and 2011.
“You have the opportunity to experience different playing styles, facing teams from Oceania, South America, and North America. It’s a beautiful experience. I believe this competition will mark a ‘before’ and ‘after’ for football,” he continued.
The former Al-Sadd coach from Qatar emphasized the importance of the tournament, which now includes 32 teams from all around the world.
