Tottenham Hotspur have won the Europa League final with a narrow 1-0 victory over Manchester United, in a match held at San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.
The only and decisive goal of the match was scored by forward Brennan Johnson in the 42nd minute, following a quick and well-organized move by Spurs.
Manchester United tried to respond in the second half, but Tottenham remained compact and allowed no space at the back.
With this win, Tottenham secures an important European trophy, capping off a successful season for the London club in European competitions.
It was a historic moment for the club, which had gone years without winning a European title. Meanwhile, Manchester United end the season trophyless, missing yet another chance to salvage a disappointing campaign.
In addition to the trophy, Tottenham Hotspur will also qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
