Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe wants to offload 33-year-old Casemiro due to his high wages, but the Brazilian could become an even greater financial burden for the Old Trafford club.
According to Daily Mail, if United wins the Europa League — which would qualify them for the Champions League — the Brazilian midfielder’s earnings next season would increase by 25 percent, due to a “secret clause” in his contract.
United is already looking to get rid of Casemiro’s current weekly wage of around €413,000, and now his weekly salary in the final year of his contract could rise to approximately €590,000
For comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo earned a similar amount during his second spell at the Old Trafford club.
By the way, back in March, Jim Ratcliffe named Casemiro as one of six players (alongside Antony, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Højlund, Lisandro Martínez, and André Onana) who are either not good enough or are overpaid.
