Today the Star Has Disappeared…
There once was a star in space,
a star, as if by surprise,
that shone with such gentle grace
and love within its light.
I knew just where it stayed
in the sky, far and high,
and as soon as night fell
I’d search for it in the sky.
Each night I’d find it there,
my heart so full of cheer,
and gaze at it for hours,
that star I held so dear.
But today the star is gone,
in vain I search the skies—
a star so bright, so beautiful,
I no longer see it rise.
